Ms. d’Amboise has been gracing Broadway stages for decades. Since making her Broadway debut in CATS, Charlotte has been nominated for two Tony Awards for her performances in the Broadway revival of A CHORUS LINE (Cassie) and Jerome Robbins’ BROADWAY (multiple roles). She has also won numerous Fred Astaire Awards for her roles in PIPPIN (Fastrada), SWEET CHARITY (Charity), and DAMN YANKEES (Lola). Most recently, she has been seen in the role of Roxie in CHICAGO, which has earned her the LA Ovation Award, the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, and the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award. Charlotte has also appeared in the Broadway casts of COMPANY, CONTACT, CARRIE, and SONG AND DANCE. Additionally, she has appeared in featured roles in several films and TV shows.

See our students perform Balanchine's iconic SERENADE at our 2024 Workshop Performances and Workshop Benefit this June. Tickets are on sale now: #LinkInBio

This ballet holds special significance to the School, as it was choreographed on the first class of advanced students when SAB opened in 1934. There are elements of the ballet that directly relate to the history of the School, such as the 17 dancers in the opening formation - allegedly due to how many students were in class the day Mr. B began choreographing - or the moment when a single dancer joins the formation late - supposedly due to the real occurrence of a student arriving late to rehearsal.

Since it first appeared in Workshop in 1974, SERENADE has been included in the program every few years as a nod to this special history. Now, for the 90th Anniversary of both the School and the ballet, it is only fitting for current students to have the opportunity to perform this stunning work once again at this year's Workshop.

SAB’s annual Workshop Performances are a public demonstration of the continuing tradition of excellence fostered at the School. Dozens of advanced students and a selection of Children’s Division students participate each year in the School’s Workshop, which culminates in three spring performances at Lincoln Center’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater with costumes, lights, and live orchestra.

Choose to see either a matinee or evening performance on Saturday, June 8, or join us at our special Workshop Benefit on Tuesday, June 11, at 7:00 PM. All three shows will include SERENADE, PIANO CONCERTO NO. 2, and SCÈNES DE BALLET, but only the Tuesday benefit performance will include TENDU - a newly commissioned ballet choreographed on our students by SAB alumna and current Resident Choreographer for the Paul Taylor Dance Company Lauren Lovette.

In our Girls III level, students begin to take on a more complicated curriculum that enhances the foundation of their technique. It's an exciting milestone in a young dancer's training. Shout out to these dancers for all their focus, determination, and hard work!
