NYCB Lecture Demonstrations

Since 1972, SAB has provided the entire ensemble of dancers (students in the Intermediate and Advanced Divisions) who perform in the New York City Ballet Education Department's lecture-demonstration programs. The lecture-demonstrations reach thousands of children in New York-area public schools each year.

Student audiences receive an introduction to professional-level dance, while performing SAB students gain stage experience and, sometimes, their first exposure to important ballet choreography. Recent Lecture-Demonstrations have included excerpts from the works of George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, and Peter Martins.

Participating students are coached by the NYCB Education Department's ballet mistress Katrina Killian and, on occasion, by additional NYCB ballet masters.
