Professional Performing Arts School

PPAS, located at 328 W. 48th Street in mid-town Manhattan, was created in 1990 to meet the needs of two groups of students: those who want to pursue professional work in the arts as they earn a junior/senior high school diploma and those who want to study the arts as an avocation. The academic program is based on the concept "effort creates excellence." Academic staff give students opportunities for daily study through a rigorous, comprehensive, sequential, fully integrated academic curriculum. The course of study, ending in a Regents endorsed diploma, is centered around a multicultural, inquiry-based, interdisciplinary approach to learning which prepares students for the rigors of college and/or a professional career in the arts.
