Little Dancers Overview
Little Dancers is an exciting new dance offering from the School of American Ballet’s SAB OPEN division debuting in January 2019. Weekly classes for 4 and 5 year olds highlighting introductory ballet, creative movement and classical music appreciation will be offered over 14 weeks each fall and winter. No audition is required and no previous training is necessary.
Students will participate in a 45-minute class each week in SAB’s beautiful glass studios at our Lincoln Center headquarters. Led by members of SAB’s faculty, classes will focus on teaching the fundamentals of dance, developing spatial awareness and introducing elementary ballet steps. Live music will accompany each class, allowing students to better understand the relationship between music and dance and helping them to develop a sense of musicality.

About the School of American Ballet
The School of American Ballet is the official training academy of New York City Ballet and was founded in 1934 by Lincoln Kirstein and legendary choreographer George Balanchine. Located at Lincoln Center, SAB is considered the premier ballet academy in the United States, training more students who go on to become professional dancers than any other school. Little Dancers is SAB’s only training program for children that does not require an audition. It is not a prerequisite for the School’s pre-professional training program for 6-18 year olds which is by audition only.
