Housing is not offered for the Young Dancer Series.

NYC Junior Session  (**New Program for 2018**)

This brand new program is a week-long immersive experience at SAB's headquarters in Manhattan. Students will take daily classes with SAB's permanent faculty and guest teachers including principal dancers from New York City Ballet. They'll have the opportunity to explore SAB's state-of-the-art facilities on Lincoln Center's pristine campus which is a mecca of arts and culture in New York City.  In addition to daily technique and variations classes, the program offers cultural enrichment seminars to further broaden young minds' exposure to the arts.  It’s a wonderful chance for aspiring young dancers to come see what SAB is all about.

The 2018 NYC Junior Session will take place
June 25 – 30, 2018.

California Workshop for Young Dancers

During this intensive, two-week program in Irvine, CA, the training is focused on strengthening technique and introducing the Balanchine aesthetic.  Students will take a daily technique class and afternoon Pointe or Variations classes with members of SAB’s permanent faculty.  Weekly Pilates classes are also offered during this program. SAB considers the CA Workshop to be an important starting point for cultivating young students with the potential to transition into the School’s New York programs. Over the seven years since SAB established the CA Workshop, scores of students who first enrolled in SAB’s California program have gone on to be accepted into SAB’s Summer Course. And, over the past few years, several alumnae who first enrolled in the California Workshop at age 10 or 11 have been invited to become full-time students in SAB’s year-round Winter Term.

The 2018 California Workshop for Young Dancers will take place
August 6 – 17, 2018.

In order to be considered for these programs, students must be no younger than 10 and no older than 12 by July 31, 2018.

Note that the California Workshop was previously eligible to 10-14 year olds.  We are no longer admitting 13 and 14 year-olds to this program.

Applicants who meet the Young Dancer Series age criteria may audition for either or both programs in the Series.  Those applying to both are asked to state their preferred program on the application form in the event that high demand prevents qualified applicants from being admitted to both programs.

Students who will be 12 as of July 31 are eligible to apply to both Young Dancer Series programs and SAB’s 5-week Summer Course.
